British national sentenced for cocaine |

|
The British man accused of attempting to smuggle cocaine by concealing the contraband in the base of his shoes was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Terrence Brown, 43, a construction worker of London, England, was convicted for possession of, dealing in, and attempting to export cocaine and conspiracy. two suitcases Allegations are that on September 16 of last year, about 4:10 p.m, the defendant arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport to board a flight to Gatwick, England, when two suitcases that he had in his possession were searched by security personnel. The search of the luggage reportedly revealed, among other things, several pairs of shoes and male clothing. A subsequent inspection of the base of each shoe revealed a white powdery substance resembling cocaine wrapped in transparent plastic weighing five pounds and two ounces. The accused was later arrested and charged. |
