An intensive investigation is under way following the seizure of two illegal guns, one of which was seized on the Spanish Town Hospital compound.

Police reports are that about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, the police was called to the Spanish Town Hospital.

Upon their arrival, it was revealed that during repairs to a room near ward number eight an object in a white bag fell from a drawer.

It was picked up by the officer. When searched, a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol loaded with a magazine of 10 rounds of ammunition was found.

"This incident is a very serious breach. It could be that the weapon was being stored to commit criminal acts on the compound," a policeman said

This followed the seizure of another weapon one hour earlier in Homestead, Spanish Town.

Reports are the police went into the community and a Smith and Wesson Springfield pistol was found in an abandoned building.

Investigators said that both incidents are being investigated.
