TT wins for Immaculate, Ardenne, Wolmer's |

Immaculate High, Ardenne High and Wolmer's Girls were the winners as the urban area Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Table Tennis competition continued yesterday. Immaculate drubbed newcomers Merl Grove 3-0 in both Under-19 and Under-16 encounters, Ardenne defeated defending champions Campion 3-1 in Under-19 and Wolmer's beat newcomers St Catherine High 3-1 in Under-16. After these results in Under-19, Ardenne are on top with six points, followed by Campion four points, and both Immaculate and Merl Grove on three points. One match remains between Campion and Immaculate to complete the first round, and the top two finishers will contest the final. In Under-16 group one, defending champions Ardenne and Hillel are tied on four points apiece at the top of the standings, while Norman Manley and newcomers Ascot each have two points. In Under-16 group two, Wolmer's Girls and Immaculate lead with four points apiece, with two newcomers, St Catherine and Merl Grove, on two points each. The top two finishers from each group will progress to the semi-finals. In individual results in the Ardenne-Campion Under-19 contest, Ashli Alexander won two matches for Ardenne, turning back both Janique Lee and Kristen McKenzie with identical 3-1 scores. Toni-Ann Taper clipped Shaunte Smith 3-2 for Ardenne's third win; as McKenzie outplayed Kerry-Ann Whyte 3-1 to pull one back for Campion. In the Immaculate versus Merl Grove under-19 match, Chloe Chai-Onn, Serena Harjani and Rebecca Daley scored easy 3-0 triumphs over Kathrina Johnson, Abigal Smith and Santina Morgan, respectively, for Immaculate's 3-0 victory. consolation triumph In the Wolmer's Girls-St Catherine High Under-16 duel, Kimberley Gillespie eased past Allison Edwards 3-0, Selena Jutton overwhelmed Racquel Mithcell 3-0; and Matthew-Ann Dawson got by Edwards 3-1 for Wolmer's' 3 wins. Larissa McLaughlin cruised past Dawson 3-0 for St Catherine's consolation triumph. In the Under-16 encounter between Immaculate and Merl Grove, Chinelle Miller, Vanessa T. Moo Young and Connie Ho cruised past Garci-Ann Williams, Kimberly Stewart and Jenisse Watt, respectively, all by 3-0 scores, for Immaculate's 3-0 triumph. The competition continues today, starting at 2:30 p.m., with eight matches - five urban and three rural. They are (home teams named first): St George's vs Wolmer's Boys in Under-19, and in urban Under-16, St George's vs Wolmer's Boys, Campion vs Hillel, JC vs KC and Norman Manley vs Ascot. In the rural section, deCarteret will host three matches - against Cross Keys in both boys' Under-19 and girls' Under-19, and against Glenmuir in girls' Under-16. |
