Fifty three persons were detained and a firearm and three rounds of ammunition seized during an operation in sections of St Catherine yesterday morning.

Up to late yesterday, police said they had not charged anyone in connection with the seizure. They were also still processing the detained persons.

The operation was carried out by members of the Mobile Reserve in the Tawes Pen and Ellerslie Pen communities, the police said.

During the operation, the cops said a double-barrell 12-guage shotgun and three 5.56 rounds were seized.
