A St Catherine man who stole a water pump was convicted in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday and sentenced to six months imprisonment.

Convicted of simple larceny is Dwayne Edwards, a labourer, from Browns Hall, St Catherine. After the accused was found guilty of the theft,he was told that a custodial sentence would have to be imposed.

Senior Resident Magistrate for St Catherine Marcia Dunbar-Green then sentenced Edwards.

The Crown led evidence that on December 20, 2010, the complainant placed a water pump on his veranda in Browns Hall. He woke the following day and realised it was missing.

A report was made at the Browns Hall Police Station, and an investigation launched by District Constable Ralston McCalla led to the recovery of the pump at Edwards' home.
