Man jailed for fictitious licence

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A Clarendon man who reportedly presented a fictitious driver's licence to the police after being involved in a vehicular collision has found himself in jail on criminal charges.

He is Deron Walters of Hayes district in Clarendon.

Reports are that on January 6, the accused was involved in a vehicular accident along the Old Harbour Road. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the police responded.

When both drivers were taken to the Spanish Town Police Station, the police demanded the documents. Walters reportedly presented a licence.

This was checked out by the police and it revealed that Walters is not the holder of a driver's licence.

Further investigation resulted in him being charged with uttering forged document, no insurance coverage, careless driving and no driver's licence.

He was charged by constable Miguel Ebanks and is booked to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
