Cops destroy six acres of ganja

As a result of ongoing efforts to tackle the guns-for-drugs trade, police in Westmoreland on Tuesday destroyed a large quantity of marijuana in the parish.

Reports are that between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., members of the Westmoreland Division, Mobile Reserve and Jamaica Defence Force carried out a joint operation in the Bluefields area.

The team destroyed more than six acres of fully grown ganja, 300 pounds of cured ganja and more than 10,000 ganja seedlings in the communities of Farm, Mount Edgecom and Auchindown.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

The Westmoreland police are continuing their probe into the matter.
