Portmore's Rodwood remained hot after defeating a spirited Dunbeholden team 1-0 in a LIME St Catherine FA Major League match at the Dunbeholden field on Tuesday.

The all-important goal was scored by Chase Spence in the 52nd minute. Chase was set up by his attacking partner Mark Walters and buried the offering from close range.

Rodwood were surprise 5-3 winners over favourites Frazers Whip in the recent mid-season final. Despite winning their encounter, Rodwood were, however, denied the top spot as Frazers' Codean Smikle scored in the final minute of regulation time to maintain their two-point lead atop the standings after they clipped Spanish Town Police Youth Club 1-0. Rodwood are on 22 points, while Frazers lead with 24 points. Rodwood came into their game against Dunbeholden using four new players on the defensive line, in addition to two new strikers and the experiment went well for the coaching staff.

"I thought we were composed in this game and the new players we introduced today handled themselves well. It was important to win this game to keep the pressure on Frazers Whip," Rodwood coach Floyd Coke said. Dubeholden's coach Riegel Smith, though disappointed with the loss, saw a few positives that they can use for their next game.

"I thought we played fairly well today, but we aren't getting the ball into the back of the net and it's a concern to us," Smith said.

"It is an improvement from our last game where we conceded four goals, we are sliding down the tables and we need to start winning games to get back on track."

In another game, McCook's Pen drew 3-3 with visitors Wanderers. Damion Wellington (13th) Andrew Richardson (24th) and Nickardo Hibbert (81st) scored for McCook's Pen, who inched to 14 points, while Wanderers whose goals came via Delroy Small (19th) Kemar Bennett (47th) and Andrew Mendez (90+2) moved into third spot with 18 points.
