Elderly man offered bail |

|
An elderly man who was offered bail in his own surety in 2010 and failed to return to court was brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is Alton Clarke, who was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm in May 2010. The court heard that Clarke was offered $15,000 bail in his own surety in 2010, however, to didn't return to court. Clarke's grandson told the court that his grandfather didn't understand that he was to return to court. "Your Honour, my grandfather doesn't understand certain things, because when we ask him certain things him can't explain. Him just nuh understand your Honour," the grandson told the court. Clarke was again offered bail in the amount of $15,000. |
