Maurice 'Spoonie' Parkes is known in the streets asa dance promoter and also as a dancer alongside the iconic Bogle and John Hype before venturing into producing with his label, Old Spoon Production.
Now, he is enjoying success with his latest project, Put Out, with singles by Gyptian, Bill Gates, Predator, D'Angel, Triple X, Kibaki, Big Wayne and others. The rhythm hasbeen enjoying favourableairplay on IRIE, ZIP, HITZ and other radio stations since its release late lastyear.
"The most popular song so far is D'Angel's From Mi Born and Gyptian's Sen It Up. The other one is Big Wayne's Knock It Pan Dem, which the disc jocks tell me has been getting a feedback," Spoonie said in a release. He has shot amedley video tosupport the Put Out rhythm and it will be released soon.
"This riddim has the ability to go places, and I am determined to get it out there the real way. I have been getting some good feedback from Japan, Europe and in certain areas of the US like Miami and New York, so things look promising ... the Gyptian and D'Angel ah create a buzz."
Despite his years of experience in the music business, Spooniedid not find success right away as his firstthree projects did not quite take off.
The projects, Money Pull Up, Bounce and Collapse, failed to ignite the rabid response catchy rhythms have on top-flight deejays who, in order to remain current, ensure they have songs on the hottest rhythms. But having taking his licks, he decided togo full throttle on Put Out, which he believes will be his first bona fide hit.
"Mi just hear dem wid a ting called 'one knock', and mi just decide fi say 'put out', it haffi work, mi a put it out, mi ah go all out. Right now, mi a wait pon the director bredda, Ruddy, fi editthe videoand dem mi tun up the scheme wid it. Put Out to the world," Spoonie said confidently.
Other standout singles on the project include Bill Gates' Bring Yu Body Come, Kibaki's Honour You, Ninja Kid'sLove Me So, Saine's Put Him Out and red hot rookie Triple X's Watch Dem a Watch.
