Fly with Nunes' Pleasure

Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

ANTHONY Nunes' FLY FOR PLEASURE showed her class on debut, leading comfortably into the lane in quick splits on Boxing Day before bleeding and finishing fifth behind LITTLE THUNDER at 1200 metres.

Treated with lasix and the blinkers off for tomorrow's Eight Thirty Sprint at 1000 metres straight, with hot jock Dane Nelson aboard, FLY FOR PLEASURE looks set to fly away from rivals.

She sparkled at exercise last Saturday morning, clocking 47.0 from the gate out of the straight, completing five furlongs in 1:01.4.

Drawn nicely at post-position 12, FLY FOR PLEASURE should be a clear leader on her bridle entering the main track, based on the speed she showed on Boxing Day and Saturday's exercise spin.

A big, far-striding filly, FLY FOR PLEASURE should have the measure of PRINCESS GEETA whose connections insist on entering her in a third sprint despite being a half-sister to MARK MY WORD.

Nelson, who is hell bent on winning his first jockeys' title this year, should also land the first event at 1400 metres with Gary Subratie's United States-bred filly, NOON IT IS.

The only three-year-old in an eight-horse field of foreigners, NOON IT IS has felt the brunt of champion trainer Wayne DaCosta's American stars in three of four starts.

After her 14-length win on November 5, NOON IT IS was twice put in her place by BLAST THEM AWAY on December 3 and 31. On her debut, another DaCosta flyer, HUPOMONE, also got the better of Subratie's filly.

She finally gets a break from DaCosta's monsters tomorrow and should put away Spencer Chung's GO GO YVONNE who impressed at exercise with the tongue-tie fitted Sunday morning, clocking 1:00.3 for five furlongs round.

However, GO GO YVONNE disappointed in her last three starts and had also worked well when preparing for those races.

Form players should also look to runners such as PRICELESS GOLD in the sixth, BALLROOM DANCER and PRIME MINISTER to repeat in the seventh and ninth races, respectively, and HERMOSO AMIGO to go one better in the 10th.

PRICELESS GOLD showed good speed in her second start two Saturdays ago at 1200 metres, battling LISA VIBES and EDISON to lead into the lane and to the furlong pole where AVENTURA took over. It's a half furlong shorter tomorrow and she should go all the way under Shane Ellis.

Selections: Noon It Is, Nolinga, Russian Commander, Storyofmylife, Classic Beau, Priceless Gold, Ballroom Dancer, Fly For Pleasure, Prime Minister, Hermoso Amigo.
