The police have taken two persons into custody in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition that were found at premises in Free Hill, St Mary, on Tuesday.

However, their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports from the Oracabessa police are that about 10 a.m., police accosted a man on the Mason Hall main road in the parish.

They subsequently searched his residence in Free Hill and found the firearm - a 9mm pistol, bearing serial number SBM01891 - a 9mm magazine and seventy-five 9mm rounds.

Investigations are ongoing.
