JDF withdraw... Army men pull out of KSAFA competitions following suspension of three players |

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) have withdrawn from the Kingston and St Andrew Football competitions after three of its members were suspended for breaches of the Jamaica Football Federation Disciplinary Code, while participating in a KSAFA Major League match on December 10 against Allman/Woodford Football Club. The suspensions were handed down at the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) disciplinary committee meeting held on January 12, following the match referee's report, internal investigations, and careful deliberations. The JDF were asked to pay the medical bills for Omar Grant who sustained a broken jaw and was hospitalised The disciplinary committee found Ricardo Gordon, Terrence Shaw, and Kevin Mitchell guilty of breaches of the JFF Disciplinary Code articles 48, 49 and 47, respectively, and recommended the following: 1. Player Ricardo Gordon shall be suspended for four matches and be fined $5,000. 2. Player Terrence Shaw shall be suspended for six matches and be fined $5,000. 3. Kevin Mitchell shall be banned for the remainder of the season and be fined $25,000. With JDF pulling the plug on their football team, Arnett Gardens got a bye into the semi-final of the Jamaica Yellow Pages/Jackie Bell Knockout tournament having lost the first leg 0-1 to the soldiers. Arnett now await the three teams still in the semi-finals. Harbour View and Waterhouse are locked 1-1 following their first-leg encounter at the Compound, while Tivoli Gardens are well on their way following their 2-0 first-leg victory. Boys' Town also have a two-goal advantage over Cavalier in the other quarter-final match-up. Claro Super League Despite drawing 0-0 with Constant Spring, Rae Town have opened up a three-point lead atop the Claro/ Kingston and KSAFA Super League following the last set of matches over the weekend. Rae Town inched to 20 points inclusive of six wins, two draws and one defeat and are three points ahead of Cavalier on 17 points, following their 1-0 win over Barbican courtesy of a Jamar Dawkins 61st-minute strike. However, Cavalier are in the driving seat having played a game less, while Barbican slipped to third on 17 points from nine games. Mountain View lost 1-2 to Olympic Gardens at Cling Cling Oval and dropped a spot to fourth on 15 points after conceding a last-minute goal from Davion Alves in the 90th minute. Shangar Myton had given Olympic Gardens a 38th-minute lead before Akeem Cohen pulled Mountain View level in the 70th minute, but Olympic Gardens found the clincher to move to 10 points in seventh spot. Greenwich Town climbed into fifth spot on 13 points following their 1-0 away win over Duhaney Park. David Stultz netted the winner in the 43rd minute for his third goal of the season. Duhaney Park, with their fourth loss in 10 games, are down in 10th place with nine points. Former champions August Town registered the biggest win of the round, thumping Santos 4-1 at the Bell Chung Oval and moved into sixth spot on 10 points. An own goal in the 37th minute sent them on their way before Ricardo Monroe doubled the advantage in the 50th minute. Andre Moulton pulled one back for Santos in the 60th minute before Omar Edwards restored August Town's two-goal cushion in the 79th minute. Nicholas Smith sealed the win in the 84th minute for an emphatic victory. The Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis-coached Santos are ninth on 10 points following their fifth defeat of the season. Rockfort edged the University of the West Indies (UWI) 1-0 in the bottom-of -the-table clash at the UWI Bowl. Peter Fowlin scored the winner in the 48th minute as Rockfort stayed in 11th place on eight points, three ahead of UWI on five points. Claro Major League Allman/Woodford surged into the Claro/KSAFA Major League lead, on 20 points, with a 1-0 win over Cooreville Gardens. An own goal in the 58th minute pushed Allman/Woodford to their sixth win from eight matches and they lead Police National, who lost 1-3 to Maxfield Park by two points. Shortwood beat Molynes United to move into third spot on 15 points. Real Mona are fourth, also on 15 points, after playing to a 1-1 draw with Brown's Town. Bull Bay clipped Swallowfield 2-1, while New Kingston blanked Pembroke Hall 2-0. Bull Bay are in sixth on 13 points ahead of Maxfield Park on 11 points. Pembroke Hall are ninth with 11 points, with Brown's Town and Swallowfield on nine points each. New Kingston are next with eight points ahead of Cooreville Gardens on seven and Molynes United on three points.
