Motorist fined for DUI

A motorist who was held by the police for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was fined $6,000 or 30 days' imprisonment yesterday.

Robert Douglas, labourer, of Portmore, St Catherine, pleaded guilty when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court for the offence.

Allegations are that Douglas was seen driving along the Mandela Highway when he was stopped by the Central Village police.

A breathalyser test was conducted and he was found to have more than the required quantity.

As a result he was charged.
