The police in Westmoreland are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man and the injury of another in the parish yesterday.

Dead is 29-year-old Michael Mullings of Dunbars River.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 1 a.m., Mullings and other relatives were at home when a knocking on the door awakened them.

Mullings went to investigate and the door was reportedly kicked in.

A man, armed with a handgun, reportedly entered and opened fire hitting him and one of his relatives.

When the police arrived, Mullings was found with multiple stab wounds and a single gunshot wound.

Both men were taken to hospital where Mullings was pronounced dead, and the other admitted in stable condition.
