Constable charged with larceny |

Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that a police constable be charged with larceny. He is Kirk Williams of the Portmore Police Station in St Catherine. Williams was charged yesterday, one week after he allegedly committed of the offence. He is charged with the theft of an electronic notebook. It is revealed that on Sunday, January 8, Williams was among a police team that went to the complainant's home. After he left, it was realised that the item was missing. The owner who is a police officer in the United Kingdom, made a formal complaint to Williams' superiors. He was subsequently questioned and reportedly admitted to the theft. Williams was placed in custody. A file has since been compiled and submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling. He is scheduled to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court later this week. |
