Court hears that ... Man covered with filth attacks woman |

|
An elderly man who was recently arrested after he went into a bar covered with faeces and assaulted the bartender because she refused to serve him a drink, had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday. He is Verley Clarke who has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. Clarke, who has pleaded not guilty, is to return to court on February 16, as the file is incomplete. Allegations are that the accused attacked the female complainant twice and punched her several times in the chest and face. The complainant told the court that she refused to serve the accused because he had filth on him and he was drunk. However, the accused who has denied the allegations, told the court that the complainant is not honest and he was only trying to purchase a cigarette. "I don't touch her any at all your Honour," Clarke told the court. |
