Cop in custody for stealing notebook

The policeman who allegedly confessed to stealing an electronic notebook from a woman whom he went to assist on Sunday night remains in custody pending a ruling from the director of public prosecutions.

The constable who is attached to the St Catherine South Division has been accused of breaching the Corruption Prevention Act.

It is reported that on Sunday night, the cop and one of his colleagues responded to a distress call at a house in Hellshire, St Catherine.

It' is reported that after they left the house, the occupant, who is a police officer in the United Kingdom, discovered that her electronic notebook was missing.

The matter was reported to the police, and following investigations and questioning, the constable confessed to stealing the item.

It is reported that the cop also tendered his resignation. The policeman, who has been in the force for six years, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
