First arms seizure of the year |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer The St Catherine North police have seized their first illegal gun for the year when they seized a Winchester rifle and ammunition in Spanish Town on Wednesday night. The illegal weapon was discovered in an abandoned house along Corlettes Road. Reports are that at about 8:30 p.m., members of the Street Crime Unit were on patrol in the community. When a Winchester Rifle along with eight rounds of ammunition were discovered. Police said no arrest was made in the seizure. The police said investigations continue in the matter. Last year police in the division seized 86 illegal guns, 27 more than in 2010. |
