A Jamaican man has been sentenced to a 20-year jail term in the United States for the aggravated molestation of a three-year-old girl He is 47-year-old Donald George Waite who was sentenced in a Georgia court on Tuesday. According to a Covnews.com report, Waite was first arrested in September 2010 following an investigation that was initiated by the mother of the child and hospital staff after the child was brought to the emergency room complaining of pain. THE STAR understands that after evaluating the child, doctors confirmed she had been molested. During a forensic interview with the child it was reportedly disclosed that Waite, who is known to the family, had sexually assaulted her more than once with an object. On Tuesday, Waite took a negotiated plea in front of Superior Court Judge Eugene Benton. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of more than US$1,000. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim or her mother and is required to participate in sex offender probation once he has been released. It is understood that Waite must serve 15 years of the sentence before being eligible. In addition, he will be deported after he serves the sentence. |
