Dancehall artiste Omar 'Poor and Boasy' Johnson says he is set to make a return to dancehall this year. The artiste, who was staying with his wife in the US, for several months in 2011, disclosed that he is now back in Jamaica and is ready to pick up where he left off.

"Most of mi time I was in Atlanta because my wife is pregnant ... she lives there but I go there from time to time to visit," he said.

The controversial young artiste expressed that his wife is very supportive, even as he seeks to get back on his musical path at this stage in his life.

"I treat my wife with respect and she supports me 100 per cent, she is a paediatrician, but she is there for me where my music is concerned," he told THE STAR.

The artiste believes he is ready to maximise his musical potential, and gave hints of an upcoming record deal.

"It is going to be a new Poor and Boasy ... more mature, advanced and I don't have no bad temper ... I have a good manager and he works hard to ensure that I travel on a positive path and we are making some progress," he said.

According to Poor and Boasy, he and his manager are currently in dialogue with a major local record label regarding a record deal.

"Right now I don't want to say the name of the label, but it is going to be a blessing when the deal comes through," he said.

The artiste also commented on his mishaps with the law in 2010.

"I have never felt so disgraced in my entire life, not even when mi a wipe car glass and police a beat mi or when mi a sleep pon road side ... it made my career stagnant and turned away many investors from me ... but I learnt my lesson," he said.

Poor and Boasy believes that he is more mature, and revealed that his old life is a thing of the past.

"Experience teaches wisdom and wisdom gives you knowledge ... right now I surround myself with positive people, no more negativity, and I have distanced myself from people who seek to pull me back and get me in trouble, no bad company for me," he said.

a positive impact

The artiste also took the opportunity to appeal to his fans, to give him a chance to make a positive impact.

"To my fans, I am not going to say you can't lose faith in me, but everybody a human and this is a different Boasy, I am all about positive and uplifting lifestyle and music right now," he said.

The artiste disclosed that if he had listened to his manager Kibwe, he would not have got in trouble in the first place.

"Kibwe tried to show me the right thing, but I was too immature then. It was like yu tek a youth out of the ghetto, but the ghetto was still in his mind, it was difficult for me to cross over so fast ... Jah Jah show me a sign so now I am wiser and no longer a fool," he said.

As it relates to the detractors who assume that he squandered his million dollars, Poor and Boasy says they don't know his account.

"People who sey mi broke nuh know how mi account stay. Di same people dem wey si mi broke mi still have to give dem a grand when mi touch the street ... but on a serious note my million was put to good use. It belongs to my daughter, everything I work is for her," he said.

The artiste also expressed that his music has changed for the better.

"My aim is to be legendary, I want to show ghetto people that the gun is not all, I am not going to waste no time singing about slackness and violence. I have been through too much to do that, for me the limit is not even the sky, it's more like Mars and Jupiter," he said.

The artiste is currently working with upcoming producers such as Juvenile Records, One Nation Records, Kedro Music among others.

He also has a song to be released this month called Badmind Suh, produced by Juvenile Records.
