|
THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt that the sister of reputed Clansman strongman, Tesha Miller, was killed yesterday because gunmen mistook a car she was travelling in for an undercover police vehicle. The woman has been identified as Ranai James, the 23-year-old sister of Miller. James, who is from Port Henderson Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine, was shot and killed while another person was injured when thugs opened fire on the vehicle. "What our investigations have revealed so far is that the men thought the vehicle belonged to the police. We have a number of undercover vehicles in the area now," a police source told THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday. The source pointed to the clash between the police and gunmen yesterday in Spanish Town, as one of the reasons for the use of undercover vehicles. James, according to reports, had been travelling in a vehicle which was shot up by gunmen when it approached De La Vega City. It wasn't until after the attack that it is said that checks revealed that occupants of the vehicle were not policemen but in fact James and the driver who was also injured in the incident. They were taken to the nearby Spanish Town Hospital where James died while the injured man was admitted in serious condition. The St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force has launched an investigation to find the persons responsible for the attack |
