SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter
Calls of assistance have been pouring in from some good Samaritans who have come to the aid of Nickeisha, the woman whose goods were confiscated by criminals posing as workers of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) recently. "About 45 per cent of the calls are from persons saying to stay encouraged," Nickeisha told THE WEEKEND STAR. She added that, to date, she has received $3,000 in monetary assistance while others have promised to provide additional assistance at the soonest opportunity. "A retired nurse gave me $1,000 and she also encouraged me ... a lady and her husband gave me $2,000. Other than that, people called me internationally from England promising to assist," she added.
Though the amount she has received may be considered small by some, Nickeisha is grateful for the assistance she has received and is eager to restart selling sometime this month.
Others who are able to help are being asked to contact Nickeisha at 275-1963.
THE WEEKEND STAR had earlier reported that Nickeisha had been swindled out of her chocolates that she had for sale while at Emancipation Park, by criminals who were attired as NSWMA workers.
She soon realised that she was deceived after her confiscated goods were unable to be located after the seizure.
The team that reportedly confiscated the confectionery items are also unaccounted for to date. |
