Tru-Juice, DB Basovak clash at Bybrook

Anthony Minott, STAR Writer

Tru-Juice FC will be hoping to gain the full advantage when they host DB Basovak in a rescheduled LIME St Catherine FA Major League match at Bybrook today at 3 p.m.

Tru-Juice, a team that was relegated from the Super League last season, have not fully got their 2011-2012 season on track after three close losses. Tru-Juice have only four points from five games, three of which were garnered in the boardroom as Christian Pen's 1-0 win against them was wiped off the record books as they used an ineligible player.

Tru-Juice's hardworking manager Julius Thompson hopes that the DB Basovak game is where their campaign will finally get on track, even though they are not where they would like to be both mentally and physically.

low vibes

"We have not played a match or trained for over two weeks because of two deaths in the Tru- Juice camp," Thompson said. He said a member of the management staff died recently, and over the weekend they buried a player's daughter and a team official, and things have been far less than smooth.

"The vibes in the camp have been low because of these deaths. We just restarted training on Monday. We hope that we can get them refocused on the task at hand," he said.

They have not been scoring goals, and the team will bank on Oswaldo Hunter, Assaune Smith, and Dinthill schoolboy Cleon Price to deliver the goals.

missing out

Tru-Juice were once one of the top teams in St Catherine football, narrowly missing out on a Super League crown as Meadows snatched the title from their grasp a couple of seasons ago.

DB Basovak, on the other hand, had a terrific start to the season, winning their first two games. They then stumbled and dropped seven points over a three-match span, with two draws and a loss and are currently on eight points, and fifth place. Fraser's Whip are the league leaders with 13 points from six games.

Coach Kevin Brown believes that his side is due for a win.

"We dropped seven points over the last three games and we need to win this game," he said. Kevin Ferguson, 17, a product of the community's youth programme, will lead the attack. He has so far scored two goals.
