Star Tell Me Pastor

22-year-old dying with AIDS

Dear Pastor,

Keep up the good work. There are so many people who are infected with HIV/AIDS. In fact, there is a 22-year-old guy who lives in Jamaica very close to my relatives and he has full blown AIDS, waiting on his death bed in a hospice. I remember him as a little boy in his baby clothes.

When I heard about him being ill, the news tore my heart. This is real, pastor. This illness is real.

I recently did a course in the medical field which required me to do a full medical. Yesterday, I got my results and I am telling you, I ate a big meal, not watching any weight or so. I was so delighted with my results. I came out of a seven year relationship five years now, and I've not been intimate since then. But, pastor, these days you never know. Some doctors and dentists are infecting people with diseases.

It is like a million dollar prize when you find out that your blood is free from all diseases, including HIV/AIDS. I don't have a lot of money, in other words not rich. However, my health is immaculate, so I'm passed rich.

I plead to everyone to do their best in protecting themselves. Remember to share with others, confide in them if you find out you are positive. Additionally, don't ignore any signs that might be indicating that there is something wrong in your body.

The 22-year-old guy who is lying on his death bed, was feeling ill for over three years, coming down with constant fever and flu, but kept going to the doctor. We are under the impression that he was told that he has the HIV virus then, but kept it to himself and is now dying.

Pastor, I feel for him. He is human and could have been one of my relatives. Let us lift him up in prayer. God bless you.

L.

Dear L.,

I am sorry to hear about this 22-year-old man who is gravely ill. Like you, I would love to encourage every adult to do the AIDS test. And if they are found to be positive, they should follow the advice of their doctor and take their medication.

Couples who are sexually active should always use protection. It has been proven that the condom is still the safest contraceptive to use. It is also advisable for married persons who believe that their spouses are cheating to insist that the condom be used when the married couple is having sex.
