Downsound Records has announced that they have added ace music selector Foota Hype to their stable of talent.

Foota Hype comes to Downsound with a record for breaking some of the island's hits, and biggest hitmakers at major local events like Fully Loaded and Uptown Mondays, and venues around the globe. After more than a decade as a one-man army, he is expanding his scope with a management and booking deal with Downsound.

Since 2001, when he got his big break at Fully Loaded, Foota Hype has made a name for himself as one of Jamaica's leading soundmen, producers, and entertainment personalities. Known for producing Mavado's anthem Touch Di Road on his Gully CreatureRiddim and the single For You by Ishawna and Demarco, as well as for his affiliation to the Bounty Killer-led Alliance, Foota Hype has been a friend of Downsound for years through his friendship with the label's recording artiste Harry Toddler. Now that Downsound has revamped and re-energised their entertainment outfit, label head Josef Bogdanovich feels this is the right time to solidify their relationship with Foota Hype.

natural progression

"Downsound has been working with Foota Hype for a while, so it's just a natural progression to welcome him officially into the Downsound force," says Bogdanovich. "We have a brand new studio, new production team, new roster of talent - we are really turning things up this year, and adding Foota Hype to the team is another step in the right direction."

Foota Hype joins Bogdanovich's team which includes chart-topping deejay Specialist, Harry Toddler, Toya, Billboard producer Cordel 'Skatta' Burrell, producer Peter 'Shady' Harrison, and upcoming artistes G Warren, Tempricher, Lollie Lou, and Magma.

"I'm glad to be a part of the new Downsound movement," said Oneil 'Foota Hype' Thomas. "I've never been officially managed or had a company backing me, so this is a big step forward for me. This is really a business partnership between me and Joe, we are going to be working together to not only channel my career in a new direction, but to continue to build Downsound Records as well."
