St George's head coach, Neville 'Bertis' Bell, is wary of fatigue affecting his players as the team gets ready to chase the Olivier Shield title. He believes, however, they have a squad deep enough to cope with the demands of the schoolboy football season. St George's added the Walker Cup title to the Manning Cup crown claimed last week by defeating neighbours Kingston College 2-1 on Wednesday at the Constant Spring Sports Complex. Having played 15 games in fairly quick succession, the North Street team must now face the match winner of STETHS vs Rusea's, over two legs, for a shot at the triple crown. "We are tired, but these are young boys, and we have a deep squad, and that is why I didn't start Davion Kelly (Walker Cup final on Wednesday), and he came on and he scored," Bell said. "There are two more games to go, and hopefully, we can last them."
While the North Street team has captured the triple crown before, that accolade has managed to elude Bell, one of the school's most successful coaches, a statistic that he hopes can be rectified this time around.
"I have never had the triple and this is the fourth season that I have had a double," said Bell.
"I "However, St George's have had the triple, and so I am just happy for that and we will continue to have fun this season, and, hopefully, it will work for us."
Bell added that his charges were looking forward to playing either team in both legs of the two-way tie.
"We are so happy that we are there, but we beat STETHS in the Olivier Shield, but we lost to Rusea's also in the Olivier Shield, and both coaches are my friends, and I wish them well," Bell said.
"However, if had to pick a team I would pick the team that will be the one easier to beat, but none of them will be easy at all."
