A woman who is on several forgery related charges had her bail extended until February 2 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Margarete Williamson from Old Harbour, St Catherine, is charged with forgery, uttering forged documents, obtaining money by means of forged documents and conspiracy to defraud for offences committed on November 3. According to police reports, the accused asked the complainant to sign a Worldnet guarantor form. After it was signed, an official at the loan services company informed the complainant that she was not qualified to be a guarantor. As a result, the complainant did not sign any other page. However, it was later discovered that the accused caused the other pages to be signed and accessed the loan. The complainant soon noticed that money were being deducted from her salary over a period of time which aroused her suspicion. She contacted the accused and made an enquiry into the matter which led the defendant to agree to repay the money. Nonetheless, the accused repaid a portion and neglected to refund the complainant a remainder of $14,000.
A report was made and Williamson was arrested and charged. |
