Court orders counselling for rastaman

A rastaman accused of assault occasioning bodily harm following an incident with his child's mother was given a chance and told to go to counselling when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Kingston resident Jerome Foster had his charge dismissed by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

Both were sent to counselling with the probation officer.

It is alleged that Foster slammed his room door on his babymother's right foot which caused pain and swelling after they had an argument.

child maintenance

The woman wanted to leave the baby with him when she visited but he refused. The complainant would usually receive money from the accused for child maintenance.

However, Foster told the court that he lived with the complainant for seven years but she ran away for five months with his son, and as much as he tried to search for her, he could not find her.

It was after he found out that she was living in Montego Bay, St James, that he reconciled with her, and brought her back to Kingston.

However, the incident when he slammed his door on her foot was as a result of her talking to someone he thought was her lover on her phone.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told the accused, "Jealousy going kill yuh, I want you to stop the noise in my court and I'm going to give you a chance to work it out with your babymother."
