Kiprich delivers high-energy performance

Kiprich - File

International dancehall star Kiprich delivered a high-energy performance at last weekend's Reggae Fever concert at the Puerto Seco Beach in St Ann that showed why he is regarded as one of the best live dancehall performers of his generation.

Hitting the stage after an energetic performance from Capleton, Kiprich kept the energy level high with a pair of gangster songs, We No Fraida No Man and then, War Dem Anyweh.

After that, he paused to address the crowd and outline his 'gangster' credentials. The crowd railed once again as he did the 'rude-bwoy' version of the Too Late to Apologise song. At this point, he had the crowd at his mercy, with most of them hanging on his every word, but they could not have been prepared for his next move. Kiprich asked for the Anger Management rhythm, and when the rhythm began to blare out of the speakers, the crowd erupted into a frenzy of finger gun salutes and cheers when Bounty Killer strutted onstage.

Wasting no time, Bounty Killer deejayed the first few bars of Talk To Dem, and the lines "gun no stick, any stick a shot stick inna bwoy" were enough to send the crowd into a literal frenzy. Kiprich then jumped in and deejayed a war song, Careless Mouth, and the crowd railed again.

After that, both deejays went tune for tune for several minutes, each trying to top the other. When a smiling Bounty Killer deejayed Nuh Cream to Mi Face, Kiprich replied with Caan Get Brown. When Bounty Killer began the 'gal segment', Kiprich deejayed No Man Caan Mek yu Pap Down and the girls screamed their approval.

Kiprich is booked on several shows this Christmas season. He will be performing at the huge reggae festival Lovefest in St Lucia, on December 10. He is also booked to appear on a show on December 23rd in Negril, Westmoreland, after which he will be headlining shows such as Sting 2k11 at Jamworld in Portmore, and GT Taylor's Xtravaganza in Black River, St Elizabeth.

"The day after Sting, I will be heading to Africa. The ting tun up wicked," he said in a release.
