Police probe robbery in Savanna-la-Mar

Detectives from the Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigation Branch say they are following strong leads into the robbery of a supermarket and financial institution in Savanna-la-Mar recently.

THE STAR understands that about $6.5 million was taken in the robbery.

According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, no arrest has been made and the money has not been recovered.

Recently, a gunman reportedly robbed the supermarket and the financial institution inside the store.

It is reported that an alarm was made and the gunman was later beaten and fatally shot.

However, there is uncertainty as to how he was beaten and shot.

No one was hurt or injured during the robbery.

As a result of the incident, THE STAR understands that staff members had to receive counselling.

Investigations are ongoing.
