High energy at Good Times new location |
|||||
Heineken Brand manager Nasha Douglas (left) gives DJ Kurt Riley a smile of approval as he unleashed hit after hit at Heineken Good Times last Saturday at the Chinese Benevolent Association. - Contributed Despite moving from its usual home at the Mas Camp to the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA), Heineken Good Times still managed to 'pump up' the energy, maintaining that great experience for patrons last Saturday.
The organisers pulled out all the stops to ensure that the patrons were comfortable with the change. Heineken, the title sponsor, also went all out to make its stamp on the event which was felt throughout the night. There was a massive setup including two main dancing areas - one indoors and the other outside of the CBA building. As patrons entered the venue, they were faced with a raised deck that Heineken erected with a full service bar and a massive 30ft screen. Across the spacious venue there were four other branded bars for consumers to enjoy their favourite brew and a game area decked out with domino tables for patrons who love the game. Sounds of Colin Hinds on the turntables were pleasant and created a great vibe among the patrons. Hits like Oh What A Night, the ubiquitous Good Times and Reggae Nights were among his set. By the time Kurt Riley got to the controls, the place was buzzing and patrons were dancing in tandem to songs like 'It's Electric'.
Riley wasted no time and continued with hits from yesteryear including soca staples It's Carnival and Iron Bazodee. He delivered a selection of hip hop and dance hits as only he could and this included a long rendition and mix of Haddaway's What Is Love.
Heineken Brand Manager Nasha Douglas said Heineken Good Times was one way for the brand to create a great experience for consumers.
"Heineken is pleased with the turnout tonight. We are even happier with the support that the patrons have given the event and the brand over the years. Our consumers expect great experiences from Heineken and Good Times is one way for us to deliver that," Douglas said.
"We eagerly await the next staging," she ended.
The members of the Quorum, promoters of the event, have over the years donated part proceeds to the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre's children ward. This year was no different.
Patrons were encouraged to bring items for the centre and there were collections being done at the event. This, in addition to some of the proceeds from the event, will be handed over to the centre at a later date. |
