Defending champions Rivoli, who failed in their bid last year to make it back to the Premier League, will kick off the contest in an away encounter against parish-mates De La Vega City. At Cumberland, New-land, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, will welcome new St Elizabeth entrant, and that parish's lone crusader, Super Action. Over at the Lime Tree Oval, Royal Lakes, who attracted a lot of attention by winning the highly competitive St Catherine Major League, take on New Green of Manchester. Both games begin at 3 p.m. Three more matches across two zones will be played on Sunday. Downs of Manchester will host last year's beaten finalists Meadows, while Monymusk, who reached the semi-finals, will travel to face Bodles of St Catherine. Spartan of Clarendon complete the weekend's schedule hosting the sixth St Catherine team Naggo Head at Clarendon College. St Catherine teams have dominated the contest in recent years. Two years ago, they fielded all four semi-finalists, while last year, only Monymusk prevented the clean sweep. This year, they will again field seven of the 12 teams in the competition. St Elizabeth, for the second straight year, will field only one team, with Manchester and Clarendon two each. Spartan and Royal Lakes are first-time entrants while New Green and Super Action are making a return after relegation. |
