GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Maizie Green has been a born-again Christian from she was 14 years old. Her decision to start serving Christ at that age came out of the fact that she started attending church as a tot. Minister Green noted that she met Christ as her Lord and Saviour during the preaching of a visiting minister to her Clarendon church while she was a teenager. She said though she accepted Christ at her church in Clarendon at that age, she migrated to Canada and had to be baptised at her current church in 1987. Green is currently a member of the Bramalea Baptist Church in Ontario, Canada. She has served as a childcare worker on Sunday mornings for many years and now serves as a minister for single parents. coping skills The Clarendon native told THE STAR that as a minister for single parents, she teaches parents coping skills such as how they can deal with issues such as depression whenever there is a break-up in their relationships. Green said she also teaches children how to address family issues such as teaching them how not to blame themselves for what happens in relationships and that they have nothing to do with the breaking up. She added that because of God's love in her heart, she cannot say that she has any enemy, or ever had any problems with anyone. She was quick to note that this was not in any way to please her but to satisfy the One who created her. Minister Green said those who call themselves 'born-again Christians' should do all that they can in order to help persons who are in need. She noted that whenever persons, Christians especially, see persons in unfortunate situations, they should tell themselves that those persons affected could have been them. "So whatever you can do for those persons, you should do it. Every opportunity you get to help others, you should do the best you can; and I think I benefit from that even more than the person that I help sometimes; but whenever I do things for persons I just forget about it and allow the Lord to judge" explained Minister Green. It is no surprise that one of Minister Green's favourite Bible verses is, 'do unto others, as you would have them do to you'. She said that verse of scripture helps her to respect others and to love them as God's creation. She added that if persons, especially those who are regarded as children of God, want persons to treat them good, then they too need to ensure that they treat others that way. Green said it does not matter how wealthy an individual is, money all by itself will not be able to keep them happy all the time. "There are millionaires who are some of the most unhappy people in the world, because what hope or what future do they have," questioned Minister Green, who also said a man's wealth, cannot go with him after he passes away. She expressed happiness that God has been good to her and she intends to continue serving Him until He calls her home. Feedback:
