Murder suspect escapes from prison
Overcrowding at the Spanish Town police lock-up is being looked at as a contributing factor in the escape of a murder suspect yesterday.

The man was held in connection with the death of 46-year-old LIME technician Rohan Johnson who was shot and killed in Kitson Town on Saturday.

Reports to The Star are that the man was picked up hours after the gruesome killing of Johnson. He was placed in the holding area to be processed but he reportedly climbed out and escaped.

It was revealed that due to the overcrowding of the facility, prisoners have to be housed in an area near the cells.

The Star was reliably informed that the cell was built to accommodate 50 prisoners but now has more than 100.

An investigation has since been launched in the matter and a search has begun for the suspect.
