Big turnout for Guinness Pink Panther Birthday Bash |

Pink Panther hanging with some beauties at his birthday bash. - Contributed The Guinness Pink Panther Birthday Bash received a record turnout at the event's 10th anniversary inside Sinclair's car park in Christiana, Manchester, on Saturday night. With close to 4,000 patrons and a host of top musicians and sound systems ready to entertain, patrons streamed into the venue expecting a great night; and they were not disappointed. St Catherine-based sound system Virus, got things off fantastically with a string of soothing reggae hits dating back to the 1970s and through to current chart-toppers. Their set was well received and paved the way for Stone Love, who was equally impressive. Bass Odyssey, playing only dancehall, had the crowd in a frenzy with songs such as Vybz Kartel's Wine Up and Go Go Wine and Mavado's Settle Down and Never Believe Yuh. By then, the crowd was at full throttle. The atmosphere grew even more electrifying when hometown favourites Black Kat began playing. Some of the latest and most preferred R&B and lovers rock songs highlighted their set. Patrons were obedient to the command of R Kelly's Step while there was no space between some couples when Gyptian's Hold You played. Little Hero and Fantan Mojah graced the stage delivering brief but exciting performances. Pink Panther has over the years, with the Black Kat sound system, achieved great success, longevity and respect. so it came as no surprise that he pulled off another special treat for his loyal fans. "I really appreciate them for turning out and that gives me great pleasure," he said about the crowd support. For four years, Guinness has been sponsoring Pink Panther's birthday bash and, according to Assistant Brand Manager Jermaine Bibbons, this was one of the best yet. "Guinness supports great community movement and that's what Pink Panther birthday bash endorses. I am personally pleased about the event on many counts, especially the turnout," said Bibbons. Some of the other artistes who supported the Guinness Pink Panther Birthday Bash included Macka Diamond, Stacious, Jah Mason, Romain Virgo, Zamunda and Noddy Virtue. |
