Ken Boothe to light up Blueshade Fest with music |
|||||
Ken Boothe - File Underground rock will meet reggae and rocksteady at this Saturday's staging of the Blueshade Art and Music Festival at Hope Gardens, St Andrew. Ken Boothe, affectionately called 'Mr Rocksteady' and "The Voice of Choice' will take the stage and close the day's proceedings with what promises to be a powerhouse performance. Boothe, known for his timeless singles, Everything I Own, Crying Over You, Train is Coming and others, has remained relevant despite the ebb and flow of the music industry. Antoinette Campbell, managing director of Firefly Productions Ltd, promoters of the event, says, "We are extremely pleased to have such an icon on the show. We all grew up listening to the magical sounds of Ken Boothe and it is nothing short of an honour to have him on our line-up, so we want everyone to come on out and enjoy the festivities and performances we have planned from all the night's artistes." Boothe, whose career has spanned decades, was granted the Bob Marley Lifetime Achievement Award in May of 2000 and The Reggae/Soca Living Legend Award in March of 1999; he also received the Order of Distinction from the Government of Jamaica and was inducted into the Caribbean Hall of Fame, both in 2004. "It will be a grand night," says Campbell of the living legend's performance. Other performances throughout the day will come courtesy of the talented Jakoostic band, Black Zebra, Stone Dub Band and Bluegrass in the Sky and others. The event ends at 10 p.m. |
