![]() Contributed - Jermaine Gordon A fresh wind is blowing in the gospel music arena as Jermaine Gordon, a multitalented singer, writer, musician and author is preparing to release his debut album, marking a huge step in his career. Gordon, who lives in St Catherine, has just added the final touches to his album, and is now preparing for the official launch, which he hopes will build his fan base and allow his music to be heard by a greater audience than ever before. For many years, the Church has been singing his music during their worship sessions, conventions and other major gatherings. As such, he has embarked on a journey to share his inspiring and spirit-filled music with the rest of the world. The album, which is titled Lord I Surrender, speaks to the core of the human soul with a desperate cry to offer songs of adoration and worship to God. Gordon's love and skill in composing and arranging various styles and genre of music is showcased as he has invited a few well-known gospel artistes to sing on the album. You will hear the likes of Ryan Berry doing Stubborn Man; the vivacious Judith Gayle singing Our Daddy Likes It and Dawn Martin with her piece Worship ELOHIM. The album also features dynamic singers from a newly formed choir by Jermaine called the 'St John 10:10 Choir' which comprises individuals from across the island of Jamaica. Not many music producers and record labels worldwide are brave enough to attempt what Gordon did, as all 12 tracks on the album are new - no cover songs or public domain material, yet you will - begin to sing along as though you knew the songs. Lord I Surrender reveals the stunning array of influences from various artistes that have found their way into Jermaine's music. With a CD collection that takes up almost half of one room, Gordon refuses to restrict his influences to one genre. Instead, he has been inspired by numerous artistes and genres across the globe including Ron Kennoly, Grace Thrillers, Michael W. Smith, Lester Lewis, Shirley Ceasar, Israel Haughton, Donnie McClurkin, Richard Smallwood and Steven Curtis Chapman amongst many others. The album was recorded at several top studios in Jamaica including, Grafton, Almond Productions and Harry J's, and its creation was supported by musicians who have been associated with some of the top gospel and secular artistes in Jamaica - Karl Gibson, Othneil Lewis, Lamont 'Monty' Savory, Duane (Wiya) and Jon Williams. The project was produced by the musical maestro himself, Jermaine Gordon. Mixed in Jamaica and mastered in New York, Gordon sought to appease the listening ear of both the average and more acute listener. The album will be launched shortly. "The very next time you travel to a fast-food restaurant and you look at the number one meal on the display board, remember that our creator desires to be truly number one in your life and so your response must always be to throw your hands in the air and say, 'Lord I Surrender'", Jermaine's encouragement to his fans. Fans are welcomed to visit Jermaine's website, which provides additional information about the young musician, writer, producer and author. In addition, to that fans can check out his MySpace page and connect with him on Facebook or follow him on Twitter. |
