The Queen's School senior netballers were on fire yesterday at the Leila Robinson Courts, as the Marvette Anderson-coached team sent out a strong message, blowing away St Jago 79-8 to register an impressive win as the third set of matches in the second round of the competition ended.

With several members of last year's all-conquering junior team now on the senior team, it was a stroll in the park for the winners, as Jago players were like spectators as they failed to cope with the high intensity of the Queen's team.

Goal attack Khadijah Williams and goal shooter Sade French were deadly, as the victors raced to a quick 22-4 first-quarter lead. They maintained the momentum and by half-time led 39-6.

After the break, they continued to pile on the pressure, with the Spanish Town girls only managing to find the target on three occasions.

It was two wins on the day for Queen's, as their junior counterparts stayed on course to retain their title. Once again St Jago felt the heat as they were beaten 44-10.

unbeaten

Defending senior champions, St Hugh's and St Catherine, also remained unbeaten after picking up their third wins yesterday. St Hugh's, who will play Queen's in a mouth-watering clash next Wednesday, got the better of a spirited Bridgeport 39-23, as St Catherine once again looked dangerous after stopping Tarrant 33-20. In other senior matches, St Andrew High beat St Andrew Technical 45-10, Excelsior beat Meadowbrook 27-19, and Wolmer's and Camperdown played to a 32-32 tie.

In other junior matches, St Hugh's beat Ardenne 35-14, St Catherine High topped Norman Manley 34-18, Mona defeated Clan Carthy 29-20 Vauxhall beat Holy Childhood 30-23, and Campion beat Camperdown 19-17.
