Dry spell... Harbour View's Hayles looks to get back on track with more goals

With goals hard to come by in this season's premier league, former champions Harbour View will have their work cut out when they travel to Ferdie Neita Park to face leaders Portmore in today's round of National Premier League (NPL) games.

The stars of the East have found themselves in the midst of a wretched run of form, which has seen them draw their last three games, prior to losing a narrow encounter against then league leaders Tivoli Gardens. Harbour View coach Donovan Hayles believes his team's issues stems from precision in the final third.

"We need to be getting three points, it's a long time we haven't been getting three points from our games," he bemoaned. The last third is where we're breaking down," Hayles said.

In Portmore, Hayles faces one of the league's stingiest defences having let in only five goals all season, perhaps key to their surge to the summit of the NPL. While expecting the encounter to be a difficult one, Portmore coach Calvin Lewis is hoping to depend on his team's home form.

"It is always a tricky encounter between the teams but this season we plan for our home to be a fortress, we don't lose at home," he said.

Elsewhere, Tivoli Gardens will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Effortville Community Centre for a match against Humble Lion.

The west Kingston team was knocked from the top of the league on the weekend following a 1-1 draw with third-place Sporting Central. Sporting Central for their part will be looking to keep their early season form going when they host Boys' Town at Brancourt.

Jostling for eighth and ninth place Reno will be hunting their third win of the season when they host an Arnett team intent on climbing the table.

Reno are eighth with 10 points and have two factors working in their favour for their clash with Arnett, who lie one spot and a point below. Frome, in recent years, has not been a happy hunting trip for Arnett; and Reno have let in the fewest goals this season, four, one in every two matches.

If there is any consolation for Arnett, it lies in the fact that Reno have only scored once in four tries at Frome, in Sunday's 1-1 tie against Highgate, while the Junglists, for their part, have scored three times on the road while conceding four goals.
