Family claims police involved in man's killing

The family of a construction worker who was shot and killed in Stony Hill, St Andrew, last weekend, is claiming that the police were involved in the killing.

Dead is 32-year-old Kevin Robinson, otherwise called 'Rukum', from Airy Castle Road in Stony Hill, St Andrew.

Information reaching THE STAR is that about 6:05 a.m., Robinson, who was out on bail for an offence, was on his way to report to the police when he was attacked.

Reports from the Stony Hill police are that Robinson was walking along St Christopher Road when a man alighted from a green Mitsubishi Lancer and fired shots hitting him.

He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to one family member, "Di police dem say a gunman kill him but dat sound like dem involved. He was killed in front of the police."

Another relative said, "he went to report at the station accompanied by his babymother because police always threaten to kill him. The dark blue car turns in front of a police car and cornered him and shot him up. His babymother ran and the police car didn't even chase the car."

The family is also claiming that the reports being carried in the media are untrue.

"The news say him rape people, that's why mi know dat is police kill him. Di man have bout 10 children and him neva rape nobody, the air need fi clear."

One woman who was on the scene when THE STAR arrived said, "A good youth we a fren from we young. Police kill the peacemaker, Stony Hill nuh good again cause dem kill the one person who always keep the peace."

In the meantime, the police say the matter is being investigated.
