A man-of-the-match performance from left-arm fast bowler Krishmar Santokie yesterday guided Jamaica to a one-wicket win over the West Indies Sagicor High Performance Centre, at the Guyana National Stadium, and into the final of the West Indies Super50 Tournament.

Santokie, who has been Jamaica's most outstanding bowler at the tournament thus far, took 3-41 and shared in a unbeaten last wicket stand with leg-spinner Odean Brown, as Jamaica, chasing 177 for victory, ended on 178-9 off 49.5 overs.

Jamaica will face Trinidad and Tobago in the final tomorrow, also at the Guyana National Stadium, in a game that will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 12:30 p.m. local time.

"It was a close match, but we always believed that we had a chance, and thanks to Odean and myself towards the end, we were able to pull through," said Santokie.

Batting first, the High Performance Centre posted 176-9 off their allotted 50 overs courtesy of a 57-run eight-wicket stand between left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, who top-scored with 39 not out, and bowling all-rounder Keron Cottoy who made 35.

This was after at one stage struggling at 87-7, in the 27th over. Spin duo Nikita Miller, 2-26, and Odean Brown, 2-40, gave Santokie best support.

Jamaica, in their reply, were then put on the back foot when talismanic opener Chris Gayle was dismissed for six early in the innings, much to the delight of the men from the academy.

However, despite losing wickets at crucial stages, Jamaica kept chipping away at the target and thanks to 32 from 19-year-old batting all-rounder Jermaine Blackwood, 24 from Andre Russell, 21 from Tamar Lambert and Shawn Findlay, and 20 from Xavier Marshall they were able to come out on top. Santokie made eight not out, and Brown five not out.

Fast bowler Jason Holder, 3-52, and Permaul, 2-34, took most wickets for the High Performance Centre who, in reaching the semi-final, added to their recent achievement of bowling out the West Indies for 73 and winning by six wickets.
