The death of six-year-old Javane Bailey of the Chester Primary School in St Ann is to be further investigated by the police, THE WEEKEND STAR has confirmed.
Yesterday, THE WEEKEND STAR reported that a source close to the case revealed that Bailey was not killed by a goal post.
THE WEEKEND STAR also reported that the grade-one student was either severely punched or kicked in the chest and not hit in the head as was initially reported.
According to Carlton Wilson, Senior Superintendent of Police and Divisional Commander for St Ann, "we have seen the post-mortem report and we will carry out all the necessary investigations."
The SSP further reasoned, "we will be revisiting the scene, we will be collecting statements from anybody who might be a potential witness and we will be building that file."
"We will be scrutinising it as much as we possibly can," he added.
The SSP also said that the results of the investigation will be sent to the coroner to determine if anyone is criminally responsible.
Earlier this month, it was reported that little Bailey died after a goalpost on the school's playground fell on him.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 11, sometime before 1 p.m.
The child was rushed to the St Ann's Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead. |
