Guadalajara, Mexico: Isa Phillips, Jamaica's only representative in the men's 400 metres hurdles here in Guadalajara has vowed to give it his best shot when he runs in today's final at 6:05 p.m. Phillips, who enters the final with the second fastest time after winning his heat in 49.62 seconds, praised the conditions after his semi-final run. "Conditions here are okay. It is not too windy, the sun is shining nice and it's cool. I have not fully adapted to the altitude as yet but it's good," Phillips said after crossing the line ahead of Trinidad and Tobago's Emmanuel Mayers, 49.86, and Lee Moore of the United States, 50.58. The former St Andrew Technical student, who reached the semi-finals of the event at the 2011 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Daegu, said mentally he was not fully focused, but he has not had a packed season so he still has some more to give. "I did not run a lot this season as I was injured so I came back late and did not run more than about five races so I still have a little left in me even though mentally I am not really into it because this is normally my rest period. "The main event of the year (World Championships) is gone already so I am just doing the best I can with what I have at this time. I have shown up and I will do my best," said Phillips who has a personal record time of 48.08 said. The leading qualifier for today's final is Cuba's Omar Cisneros who won semi-final three in 48.99 seconds. Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic who holds the Pan American Games record, 48.19, set in his home country in 2003 was second in semi-final two in 50.22. The heat was won by Brazil's Mahau Suguimati in 50.20.
