Kartel's lawyers to apply for bail

Controversial Dancehall Deejay Vybz Kartel is scheduled to reappear in the Gun Court Section of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.

It is expected that lawyers will make a bail application for the deejay despite that the fact that another murder charge has been laid against him.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, has been in custody since July 30 and is charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

The charges stemmed from the July murder of businessman/promoter Barrington 'Bossie' Burton of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine.

The allegation is that on July 11, Kartel along with Nigel Thompson and Linberg McDonald conspired to murder 27-year-old Burton.

The police say Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park.

On Monday it was also announced that the deejay had been slapped with another murder charge.

It was reported that the Constant Spring Criminal Investigative Branch charged Kartel along with another man, Kiro Jones, otherwise called 'Ray Jones', for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Williams was reportedly murdered on August 16.

Allegations are that Williams was taken to a home in Havendale, St Andrew, and stabbed to death over the loss of an illegal gun.

THE STAR understands that the body has not been found.

Investigators believe that attempts were made to destroy the evidence when fire was set to the home.

THE STAR also understands that the police are seeking other suspects in connection with the killing.
