The Police seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during separate operations in St. Andrew and St Catherine on Saturday. One man has since been arrested in connection with the incident in St. Catherine.

The Spanish Town Police report that about 12:15 p.m., the Police were investigating reports of a group of men in motor vehicle on a robbery spree when they encountered a motor vehicle fitting the description. The driver of the vehicle however sped away, and eluded the Police.

The motor car was later discovered crashed on Thompson Pen Road in St Jago Heights in the parish, and a search of the motor vehicle revealed a Hawk Ruger .357 revolver and six .357 cartridges.

One man was subsequently arrested in connection with the find. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

About an hour later, the Hunts Bay Police were on operation at McKoy Lane, Kingston 11, when a premises was searched. One Beretta 9 mm pistol and six 9 mm cartridges were seized.

Investigations are ongoing.
