Relatives of a St Catherine High School student who died in hospital after being admitted for treatment have employed an independent pathologist to observe the autopsy. Dead is Chris-Ann Dunk, 14, of Featherbed Lane, Spanish Town, St Catherine. "We are definitely going to sue for my granddaughter's death. So, we need an independent opinion, that is why we need the pathologist," Leonora McCall, Dunks grandmother said McCall told THE STAR that it is the family's belief that the child's death questionable and a thorough probe would be done. She explained that Dunk was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital on October 3 and that she was hospitalised after treatment. "The child just left us in pain, even her assignment she did before being treated at the hospital. They told us she was dead after being transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital. We don't believe," McCall told The Star. She said it was the family's belief that the child died because of the hospital's negligence. Meanwhile, Chairman of the South East Regional Health Authority Lyttleton Shirley said the matter is being probed. Meanwhile, the family is making funeral arrangements for Saturday October 29. |
