Lottery scam suspects to be extradited to the US

The police have revealed that several of the recently arrested suspects in the multimillion dollar lottery scam are to be extradited to the United States (US).

THE STAR also understands that efforts are also being made by the authorities to confiscate their assets.

Head of the St James Police, Senior Superintendent Linnette Martin-Williams, made this revelation last Thursday, while addressing a Rotary Club function in Montego Bay.

Fourteen persons were arrested last month and several items seized in an operation conducted against the lottery scam in Montego Bay.

The operation involved local police, agents from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Postal Security and members of the Jamaica Customs Enforcement Team.

Several premises were searched, leading to the seizure of various documents, equipment and high-end vehicles believed to be the proceeds of the lottery scam.
