THE STAR understands that Powell's attorney, Patrick Atkinson, was expected to apply for bail on Friday, but he said he would not until he receives a copy of the forensic certificate.

According to the prosecution, it would supply the defence with a copy of the forensic certificate by Friday.

Powell is charged with murder, shooting with intent, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and failure to produce a firearm for inspection in relation to the Mais case.

On July 1, Mais was shot dead, when the driver of a BMW X6 reportedly opened fire on the taxi in which he was travelling after it bumped into his SUV.

Powell left the island for the United States a day after the killing.

But on July 11, he returned and surrendered to police at the Norman Manley International Airport.
