LA Lewis says he was not evicted

Dancehall artiste L.A. Lewis was once again the talk of the town, this time after it was alleged that he had been put out of his apartment in Red Hills, St Andrew, yesterday morning.

A video was even sent to The WEEKEND STAR which showed chairs and other furniture, which allegedly belonged to the deejay, on the side of the road. There were also other items that were covered under a tarpaulin.

However, when The WEEKEND STAR contacted L.A. Lewis, he denied the allegations, stating that he owned houses, therefore it was unlikely that he could be evicted.

"Mi have mi house a Portmore and others in places I can't disclose because mi nuh waah give wey mi location. A mi babymother did live a Red Hills. Eviction?... Mi nuh know nutting bout dat and I have no further comment. Some people just a try start rumours," he said.

The artiste, who clammed up when The WEEKEND STAR sought to extract more information from him about what really took place at the house in Red Hills, said he was focused on more important things.

Yesterday's scene, however, must have felt like déjà vu, as L.A. Lewis had his furniture and other items put out on the roadside in 2009, when he was evicted from the building from which he operated his business, L.A. Lewis Enterprise Limited.

Scores of onlookers gathered outside the establishment located at 24 Burlington Avenue in St Andrew, while the deejay's furniture and equipment were being removed. While the rain fell, his belongings were being placed on either the sidewalk or in a truck parked a few metres away.

L.A. Lewis, at the time, had confirmed that he was removed from the building. He said, however, that he had been speaking with the landlord's wife for an hour before the men arrived to remove his belongings.
